Training and the future of tourism: Ilenia Fracchiolla guest on Telesveva

The tourism sector evolves, updates, changes and the figure of the educational director becomes central in guiding young talents towards solid and innovative career paths. Thus Ilenia Fracchiolla, educational director of the’European Tourism Institute, with passion and competence is transforming and innovating the training offer of the educational institution.

Founded over 20 years ago, IET now has offices in Rome and Milan and a recent establishment in Puglia, where it has consolidated the nautical tourism.

After years of commitment to general and specific training, Ilenia has brought her know-how to the service of the institute, becoming a point of reference for students and partner companies. She was recently a guest on the programme “Caffellatte” of Telesveva, conducted by Francesco Donato with Stefano Massaro, during which he deepened the topics of tourism training, educational innovation and new professional opportunities in the sector, sharing the vision and experience of the European Tourism Institute.

A new vision of tourism

According to Ilenia, tourism is no longer just a question of travel or hospitality: the new paradigm is that of experiential tourism, where the traveller becomes the protagonist of his journey. “Tourists today want to live unique experiences: kneading orecchiette in Bari, discovering the alleys of Matera or sailing along the Apulian coast,” she says. “Sustainability and respect for the environment and local culture are now indispensable.”

This approach has led IET to develop curricula that prepare young people for rapid entry into the world of work, with a network of more than 600 partner companies and training that combines theory and practice, including the nautical sector, to respond to emerging demands for qualified figures in Italy and abroad.

International training and new skills

The training offered by IET is not limited to English: learning foreign languages, the ability to adapt and travel, resourcefulness and the conscious use of social media are all key skills for working in international tourism. Innovative figures such as the revenue managerthe glamping manager and the mystery guest represent new professional roles demanded by the global market, capable of transforming travel into a comprehensive, sustainable and high-quality experience.

The value of Apulia and made in Italy

The director emphasised how Puglia is now a region capable of offering unique tourism experiences, thanks to a welcoming culture that has evolved enormously in recent years. IET students, trained with technical and linguistic skills, have the opportunity to enhance the region and bring Italian tourism abroad.

"We have built an education that responds to the real needs of the market,” explained Ilenia. “We don't just train professionals: we train tourism ambassadors, capable of enhancing our cities and our culture, respecting the environment and the social fabric.”

A commitment that goes beyond teaching

Ilenia's passion for education is not limited to the classroom: her commitment extends to the promotion of new ways of tourism and the valorisation of innovative professional figures. With a pragmatic and far-sighted approach, he guides the European Institute of Tourism towards a modern didactics, attentive to global trends and local needs, confirming the institute's role as a leader in the Italian educational panorama.
